Over 21 years ago in 1996 John Kirkby founded Christians Against Poverty and, for the last 18 years, has been at the forefront of its international expansion. Along with CEO Matt Barlow, John has seen CAP develop into an organisation serving tens of thousands of individuals each year by helping those struggling with debt, unemployment and life controlling habits and equipping people to live well on a low income.

John also joined with Matt and Josie Barlow to start the Light Church, Bradford, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Still sitting on the leadership team and embarking on the task of building a mission centre, John continues to learn about growing a vibrant city centre church with a heart for the poor. He has been able to experience some of the unique challenges of growing and leading a local church, but is also encouraged by the immense possibilities of seeing lives transformed.

John says:

'My hope is to be able share some of what I have learnt over the years with you and that this will encourage and inspire you in your own leadership journey, in whatever capacity you serve.'

Upcoming events and talks:

13 October – Faith in Business Conference, Bradford
Exploring what it means to love God and love our neighbour in the context of competitive business..

March 2019 – New Wine Regional Leadership Conference, London
Bi-annual conference for leaders within the New Wine network of churches.
